COMPOSITION OF AIR
Air is a mixture of many gases that surround us. Air contains oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and rare gases.
IMPORTANT OF AIR
It supports life.
It helps in burning.
It helps plants make food.
It generates electricity
It inflates tires, balloons and football
THE BREATHING SYSTEM
Breathing is the process of taking in oxygen and giving out carbon dioxide. Plant breath in carbon dioxide and breath out oxygen. The main organs involved include
Nose – where air enter and is filtered by tiny hairs
Trachea (windpipe) – the tube that carries air to the lungs
Lungs – the main organs where gas exchange happens
Diaphragm – a muscle that helps the lungs expand and contract
Keeping the lungs healthy
Avoiding smoking or being near people who smoke
Exercise regularly to improve lung capacity
Avoid dusty environment
Plant trees around the house to enhance fresh air
Practice deep breathing in well ventilated areas
